I first worked in the greeting card business many years ago when I was a programmer/analyst for Hallmark Cards, Inc., in Kansas City, Mo. My Information Technology career has taken me many places over the years, and I’ve worked for some high-profile companies, including Sara Lee Corporation and Laboratory Corporation of America. The Information Technology field has changed a good deal over the years. To be honest, it’s just not as much fun as it used to be. I began to think about trying something else.
Meanwhile, Colleen Sullivan in Tampa, Florida, who had left the daily corporate grind to stay at home with her newborn son, created Happy Labels as a way to continue contributing to the family income without missing out on her son’s early years. Her project was successful beyond her dreams. So successful, in fact, that it began to encroach upon the quality of her family time. She decided to find someone who would give Happy Labels the attention it deserved. That’s where I came in. I was looking, and found Colleen. She and I “clicked,” and came to an agreement.
